Philippine Christmas

All throughout the world particularly in Catholic places, Christmas is considered as one of the most anticipated and important festivals of the year. For some countries, the celebration starts right when the "ber" months arrived. The preparation becomes more intense when the All Saints Day is over.

The Philippines, a renowned Catholic nation is known for its traditions and customs for long Christmas celebration. From preparation of food to decorations, everything is carefully documented and arranged. The people of this nation are also incredibly particular in gift giving for all the "inaanak" or goddaughters and godsons. To adhttp://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gifd more, this is a time for reunions and parties, where most OFWs are going home to be with their family.

In addition to the preparation, they also have this “Simbang Gabi” (mass at 4AM) which usually starts on December 16 until December 25 as a preparation for Jesus' birth. They also believed that if someone has completed the 9 morning masses, her/his wish will be granted. That's why many people are attending mass because of their wishes and prayers. On eve of Christmas Day, families are gathered and attend for the 12MN mass together.

More than the gifts and food being served on the table, it is certainly being with the family that each Filipino look forward each year during this season.
